Annual Investigative Advisory
An experienced investigative advisor, before you need one.
A standing relationship that gives attorneys and organizational leaders senior investigative judgment on call, without adding a full-time hire.
Why a standing relationship
Complex matters appear without warning. Starting from zero costs time you do not have.
Annual clients settle conflicts, terms, and context in advance. When something happens, there is no search and no negotiation: one call, to someone who already knows your organization.
What the relationship provides
Senior judgment, already in place.
- New-matter triage
- Investigative strategy
- Evidence & records consultation
- Factual gap analysis
- Periodic matter review
- Counsel & executive briefings
The exact mix is set in a written agreement after conflict review.
Advisory levels
Three levels of standing access.
Each is an annual relationship. Fees are set by scope and discussed privately.
Advisory
For firms that periodically need senior investigative judgment.
- Strategic consultation
- Quarterly review
- Priority access
The core relationship
Strategic
For organizations with recurring investigations, disputes, or claims.
- Expanded advisory capacity
- Regular matter review
- Leadership briefings
Priority Partner
For organizations that want a standing external investigative resource.
- Reserved capacity
- Priority response
- Portfolio review
The annual agreement secures continuity, access, and advisory capacity. Substantial investigative work is scoped separately, in writing, on preferred terms.
The first ninety days
How the relationship is put in place.
The value of a standing advisor is decided before the first urgent call. Onboarding is designed so that call starts with context, not introductions.
Conflict clearance
Your organization, principal counterparties, and known adverse parties are cleared once, in advance, and refreshed as matters change.
Orientation briefing
A confidential working session on your organization, the matter types you see, key counsel and decision-makers, and where investigative risk tends to arise.
Standing protocol
Agreed channels, response expectations, and the triggers that warrant a call, so no one has to decide whether something is "big enough" in the moment.
Periodic review
Scheduled review of open matters and emerging issues at the cadence set by your advisory level, with a short written summary.
Not ready for an annual agreement?
Begin with a Matter Assessment.
A defined, independent review of one matter: what the record establishes, what remains unresolved, and the recommended next steps. Each assessment is scoped and quoted privately before work begins.
Questions
Before the first conversation.
How is advisory priced?
By scope rather than published rates: the level of access, reserved capacity, response expectations, and the matters you handle. Figures are discussed privately and set out in a written agreement before any work begins.
Does the annual fee cover investigations?
It covers advisory access and capacity at the level selected. Substantial investigations, extensive evidence review, field work, travel, and expert costs are scoped separately, on preferred terms for advisory clients.
What if we have no major matter this year?
Then the relationship has done its job quietly. Periodic review, triage of smaller questions, and briefings continue throughout the year, and conflicts, terms, and context stay current for the matter that does arrive.
Who does the work?
Advisory clients work directly with TaskPoint's founder and principal consultant. Vetted specialists are engaged only when required; analysis and final work product remain with TaskPoint.
Does TaskPoint provide legal advice?
No. TaskPoint is not a law firm. We establish, organize, and test the factual record; counsel applies the law and leadership makes the decision.
Should we send materials with our inquiry?
No. Please do not send privileged, confidential, or sensitive material before an engagement is accepted in writing. An inquiry needs only enough for conflict review and a first conversation.
How do privilege and work product apply?
Where counsel retains TaskPoint, confidentiality and work-product treatment depend on the terms of the engagement and governing law. Privilege is not assumed, and counsel should address it expressly.
Build the relationship before the matter becomes urgent.
Inquiries are reviewed personally, typically within one business day, and begin with a conflict review.
